English - Hot-seating the penguin

Image
Today in English we received a special video from the penguin and he answered some of the questions that we wrote to him yesterday. We were really interested in his answers.  We then got into pairs and one of us pretended to be the penguin and one was the interviewer asking questions. The children were great at getting into character and pretending to be the penguin and then were really brave and showed their hot-seating to the rest of the class.

PHSE- Talk Pants

Image
This week in our PHSE lesson we are talking about PANTS using the NSPCC Pantasaursus scheme. This scheme helps children to understand that some parts of their bodies are private. It advocates for children to understand that it's ok to say 'no' and to talk to an adult if they are worried about something. You can find the scheme and the video we watched in the links below if you would like to continue the conversation at home.  https://www.nspcc.org.uk/keeping-children-safe/support-for-parents/pants-underwear-rule/

Big Phonics - ow & ou

Image
This week in Phonics we have been looking at the ow (clown) and ou (mouse) sounds. “Croc” joined us for big phonics this morning and helped us to sound out words containing these sounds. We then played some reading and writing games with a focus on ow and ou.

Art - Exploring watercolours

Image
This week we explored watercolours and different techniques to make marks on our pages. The children remembered lots of different ways they could make marks and explore textures with watercolours and as you can see, their imaginative ideas and creativity is amazing!
