 Today was our first History lesson on our new topic- The Titanic.  We started off by looking at a picture and trying to work out what was happening. Lots of children could identity that it was a ship and that it was hitting an iceberg. Some children already knew the story of the Titanic.  We looked at a few different pictures and tried to be detectives to find out some more information. The children could tell that it happened at night time, that some people managed to get into lifeboats and that some people unfortunately ended up in the sea and some people died.  We then looked at five pictures and tried to sequence them. 

Year 1 were treated to an amazing old toys workshop this afternoon where they got to continue to find out all about older toys, but this time they were able to see these toys up close! The children were so sensible and respectful whilst handling the older toys, knowing how they could be fragile due to their age. Some were even very 150 years old! They even found some replica toys they had never heard of before but really enjoyed using!

 Today in History, we looked at toys and thought about how they would be played with, and who would most likely want to play with.  We decided that toys that were fun for babies are very different to toys an older child would like to play with. We talked about the toys we like and how these were different to our younger/older siblings.  The children then sorted the images of toys according to who they were best suitable for! Good job everyone.
