Christmas comes to Beech class! 🎄

The children were very excited to see the classroom had been decorated when they came in this morning. There are lots of Christmas challenges around the classroom and a new Santa post box. The children are enjoying writing letters to Santa and making Christmas cards for their friends and family.

 Today we did some observational drawings of flowers and combined them with our hand prints from last lesson. We looked really carefully at the size and shapes of the flowers and petals and tried to copy them. Everyone worked really hard and did some lovely detailed drawings. The finished prints look amazing!

This week in Maths!

This week we have been looking at representing numbers in different ways. On our hands, in a tens frame, a part-whole model, with cubes… the children thought of it all!  We looked at counting objects and showing these in a tens frame and the children really enjoyed using some lovely, shiny stones to do this!

DT - Levers and pivots

 We continued with our topic on moving pictures today. We looked at how a seesaw worked and talked about levers and pivots. We then had a go at making our own moving pictures with a pivot and lever. We either made a cat with a moving tail or a wolf with a chomping mouth!  The children really enjoyed this and all the moving pictures looked amazing!
