PSHE - No Outsiders - Going to the volcano

As part of our No Outsiders this term we looked at the book ‘Going to the volcano.’

Wee looked at how all the children and characters were different but they were all allowed to join in on the journey to the volcano. We talked about how we like to include everyone in our games and we don’t leave anyone out. 

The children then drew their own volcanoes and a range of characters going on their journey. They came up with their own headings including “We can all join in”. “Everyone can join in” and “Everyone can come.”

We looked really carefully at the size and shapes of the flowers and petals and tried to copy them. Everyone worked really hard and did some lovely detailed drawings. This week in Maths!

This week we have been looking at representing numbers in different ways. On our hands, in a tens frame, a part-whole model, with cubes… the children thought of it all!  We looked at counting objects and showing these in a tens frame and the children really enjoyed using some lovely, shiny stones to do this!

DT - Levers and pivots

 We continued with our topic on moving pictures today. We looked at how a seesaw worked and talked about levers and pivots. We then had a go at making our own moving pictures with a pivot and lever. We either made a cat with a moving tail or a wolf with a chomping mouth!  The children really enjoyed this and all the moving pictures looked amazing!
