PHSE- No Outsiders

 Today we looked at the book 'The Perfect Fit' by Naomi and James Jones. It is all about shapes and trying to sort them into groups, unfortunately Triangle didn't fit with any of the existing groups. Triangle goes on a hunt to find a place she truly belongs. Whilst she found a group of triangles to play with, in the end Triangle realised she could work with all the other shapes to make fantastic pictures and she didn’t feel like an outsider any more. It was actually more fun to have the experience and games of everyone. 

We made our own pictures using different shapes to show that all the shapes work best together.

 Today we did some observational drawings of flowers and combined them with our hand prints from last lesson. We looked really carefully at the size and shapes of the flowers and petals and tried to copy them. Everyone worked really hard and did some lovely detailed drawings. This week in Maths!

This week we have been looking at representing numbers in different ways. On our hands, in a tens frame, a part-whole model, with cubes… the children thought of it all!  We looked at counting objects and showing these in a tens frame and the children really enjoyed using some lovely, shiny stones to do this!

DT - Levers and pivots

 We continued with our topic on moving pictures today. We looked at how a seesaw worked and talked about levers and pivots. We then had a go at making our own moving pictures with a pivot and lever. We either made a cat with a moving tail or a wolf with a chomping mouth!  The children really enjoyed this and all the moving pictures looked amazing!
